The Walleye is the largest of the game fish sought in the Western Basin of Lake Erie. They are more plentiful in Lake Erie than in most other waters of the United States. Hence, Lake Erie has been tagged with the name of "Walleye Capital of the World". Being excellent table fare and having good size keeps Walleye fishing very popular.
Fishing for Walleye can be done in three ways. Anchoring or slow drifting the boat, using a lead headed Jig or Jigging Spoon as the the lure, can be effective April thru May. Drifting the boat using a small weight forward spinner or flippin' harness as the lure can be effective mid-May thru June. Trolling the boat using planer boards and dipsey divers with spoons and small crank baits as the lures can be effective May - Oct.
